Scholarships

Entrance Scholarship

Our individual departments offer entrance scholarships to attract and support outstanding local and non-local students academically.

  • Competitive Basis: Awards are granted based on your academic excellence, the quality of your undergraduate qualifications, and overall merit.

  • Scholarship values, eligibility requirements, and selection criteria vary across different departments and programmes.

Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS)

Introduced by the HKSAR Government, the FTSS supports local students pursuing postgraduate studies in disciplines of strategic importance to Hong Kong.

  • This scheme is exclusively for local students

  • For the 2025/26 and 2026/27 intakes, both the MSc(Eng) in Civil Engineering and MSc(Eng) in Building Services Engineering are eligible under the scheme.

If you meet the local student criteria, you are advised to consult the relevant department directly for specific application timelines and arrangements.

Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies
HKU Faculty of Engineering MSc Global Scholarship​

To enhance cultural diversity and attract high-calibre non-local students to pursue our MSc programmes, the Faculty established the HKU Faculty of Engineering MSc Global Scholarship to support keen candidates to pursue the MSc study.

The Scholarship is a one-off, non-renewable award covering up to half of your tuition fees.

  • Outstanding academic performance is a core criterion for selection.
  • Applicants who bring diversity in cultural background will be at an advantage.
  • You will be automatically considered during the admission process – no separate application is required.
  • If shortlisted, you must complete an interview with the selection panel to finalize the award.

Financial Aids

Government's Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)

If you need additional financial flexibility, you may apply for financial assistance under the HKSAR Government’s Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS), administered by the Student Finance Office (SFO).

  • You can apply for loans of up to the full tuition fee of your programme.
  • To be eligible, you must either have the right of abode in the HKSAR or have resided in the HKSAR continuously for three complete years before the commencement of your studies.
  • This scheme generally does not cover non-local students holding student visas or entry permits.

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)

If you are a local resident, selected courses under certain programmes are included in the list of reimbursable courses under the HKSAR Government’s Continuing Education Fund (CEF).

  • Eligible applicants who successfully complete approved CEF courses can apply for a reimbursement of course fees, subject to prevailing government criteria.
  • Please note that this fund primarily caters to Hong Kong residents meeting specific right-of-abode or residency requirements.
